PROPER ATTIRE IS REQUIRED TO RIDE AT   BURNTSIDE

All students must wear at least jeans or preferably riding jods with boots. All students under the age of 18 are required to wear a helmet. We do provide helmets for use if you do not have any. If you are looking for places to get outfitted to start riding, below are some great options and of course you can contact us with any questions or concerns.

30 Minute Private Lesson

This is our most popular lesson at Burntside. It is 30 minutes of riding time with an instructor. We recommend that you come in 15 minutes early and stay 15 minutes after to help clean, tack and put away your horse. While you ride, your instructor will focus on teaching you correct form, balance and horsemanship. This lesson is offered to anyone 5 years of age and up and at any skill level.

15 Minute Tiny Tot Lesson

This type of lesson is offered to any kid under the age of 5. It is 15 minutes of concentrated riding time but we would love for them to coming in 15 minutes early to help get their horse ready for the lesson and then stay after to put their horse away. We focus on the beginning steps of riding and being around a horse. A skilled instructor will be with them at all times.

30 minute Group Lessons

After the rider can independently ride on their own safely and confidently, there is an option of doing group lessons! This helps develops the skill of riding with others in the ring (esp. passing and ring etiquette) and get them ready if they ever wanted to go to a competition.

- Winston Churchill.

At Burntside we are excited about introducing people to the art of riding horses. Learning to ride is a lifelong process that involves developing thinking skills as well as balance and timing. Starting with riding lessons allows riders to enter the horse world affordably and simply enjoy riding while learning the valuable lessons of equitation and horsemanship, along with the joy and appreciation of interacting with a horse.
